SHE performance pays dividends for local charities

SHE Award Jess & Daniel_Large

Lucite International is passionate about Safety, Health and the Environment.  At the Cassel site, where EAME methacrylate monomers are produced, the site’s strong safety performance is recognised with a quarterly award scheme which benefits local charities.

Provided that specific injury, environmental and illness criteria are met, a quarterly award of £1000 is donated to local charities making a real difference to the community surrounding Cassel.

Recently, the donation was made to local charity Butterwick hospice, a charity caring for around 2,000 people per year who are suffering from life-limiting illnesses.  By providing free help, the hospice is able to relieve symptoms, enrich patient’s lives and support them and their loved ones.

The award for Quarter Three’s SHE performance will be split between two charities:  AwayOut in Stockton on Tees, who work with at risk women and disadvantaged youths, and Zoe’s Place, which provides palliative, respite and end of life care to babies and infants aged from birth to five years suffering from life-limiting or life-threatening conditions.

The charities are nominated by Cassel employees who have been supported by or had involvement with them.  Other charities which have benefitted from the Cassel SHE award include:  Butterwick Hospice, Baby Bereavement Support Group, Hartlepool and District hospice and Alison’s House – Alzheimer’s care & support.
